We
were sitting in the 3rd row directly behind home
plate--we estimate
there were at least 50,000 fans on the field. That
is over 10 times
the entire population of the town I first taught in
1974 (Los Banos).
I remember taking Brian to his first Giants game at
Candlestick.
I'll never forget the expression on his face. He
had never seen so many
people at one place at the same time. Poor
fellow--we were in the top row
of the Upper Deck--veritable nosebleeds--when Will
Clark hit a homer up
in the 2nd deck in right field everyone jumped up
as if on command to a
drill sergeant. Dwarfed by almost everybody, Brian
asks "Was it home run
Dad?"
The
Giants little bull-dog, Sergio Romo still sporting
quite the beard to be
feared!
But
they just kept on coming . . .
--and
coming!
Even
the local fire department could not dampen the
fiery passion of Giants fans . . .
